Bluff from Village Green
Grade: 🟡 Yellow · Distance: 3.5 km one way · Time: ~1.5 hours one way (~2.5 hours there and back)
Terrain: gradual, with a steep section near the Eco-Shrine
Starts at: Redcoat Lane at the Village Green
Wet weather: caution — slippery after rain
The walk
No car? No problem. This is the walking route from the middle of the village out to
The Edge and the Eco-Shrine — start on Redcoat Lane at the Village Green (spot
Hangman’s Tree) and follow the Green Piggy signs (a green piggy carrying a
yellow diamond). The valley views open up steadily as you approach the Bluff, until
the Tyume Valley lies hundreds of metres below.
At the far end you arrive at everything The Edge offers: the viewpoint, the
Eco-Shrine, the Mirrors Gallery and the Labyrinth. Return the same way, or combine
with the Bluff Experience loop — there’s also a
Bluff-to-Village return route of similar length if you fancy a different way home.
What you’ll see
- Redcoat Lane and Hangman’s Tree on the way out of the village
- The Tyume Valley opening below the Bluff
- The Edge, Eco-Shrine, Mirrors Gallery and Labyrinth at the far end
Practical tips
- Follow the Green Piggy signs and do NOT take the Military Path — that sign is
a routing warning only: the Military Path is a separate
walk, but it’s the wrong turn for the Bluff. - The steep section near the Eco-Shrine is slippery after rain.
- Moderate fitness needed for the full there-and-back.
Starts at the Village Green gate · Back to the hiking hub.
