Hogwarts Forest

Hogsback has leaned into its Tolkien folklore for decades, and Hogwarts Forest is the stay that runs the theme all the way — cottages in the upper forest with names and details that will make sense the moment you’ve read the books. It is a real, working self-catering property first and a fan experience second: the August 2026 vetting recorded 19 Booking.com reviews averaging 9.3, which you don’t earn on theming alone.

The cottages

Two self-catering cottages on the property, eight beds in total on the village sheet’s count. The unit the vetting sheet names is Gryffin Cottage, and its Airbnb listing fills in the detail: sleeps four — a king-size en-suite bedroom downstairs plus a loft under the thatch with two singles.

The theme, honestly

The theming is the reason people search this property out, and it’s done with more craft than the average themed rental — but you’re still booking a forest cottage: wood heat, verandas, birds at first light. If your travelling companions don’t know a horcrux from a hippogriff, they’ll still get a comfortable cabin in the trees.

On-site extras

The village sheet records private yoga classes and homesteading education on the property, with the hosts also selling handmade jewellery and cheese — worth asking about when you book.

Location

Upper Hogsback, forest side — you’ll want a car for shops and restaurants. The Madonna & Child trailhead and the Big Tree are on your side of the mountain.
