The Eco-Shrine
Where art and the mountain meet: the Eco-Shrine is an outdoor art installation on the forest verge of the Mid-Bluff, built in 1995 by a local artist and open ever since. Large oil paintings sit in sculpted niches along a low cement-relief wall that seems to have grown out of the hillside — ecology, art and a sense of the sacred sharing one space, with the Amatolas doing what they do to every view up here.
The working studio on the property opens to visitors: high thatched ceiling, paintings in progress, and good-quality prints and cards of the works for sale.
