Back o’ the Moon Cottage
Built in 1935, one of the first cottages in Hogsback, and still doing what it was built for: sleeping a family in the middle of the village with a garden full of trees out the back. Five stars from the four guests who’ve reviewed it on LekkeSlaap at the October 2026 check — a small sample, and a spotless one.
The cottage
Seven guests, three bedrooms, two bathrooms: the main bedroom has a double plus a child-only bed, and the other two rooms are twins. The lounge is the vintage heart of it — fireplace, couches, and shelves of books — with a full kitchen (gas stove, oven, microwave) and a private, overgrown-in-the-good-way garden with corners to hide in. Linen and towels provided, firewood and load-shedding provisions included, washing machine on site.
Location
Trewennan Lane, in the town centre (GPS −32.5914, 26.9304) — close to the Spar and walking distance to waterfalls and forest, which for a village this small is the best address there is. Start with the waterfall guides.
Pets
No pets on the village sheet’s record — the listing doesn’t state a policy, so if the dog is coming, ask first. Otherwise see the pet-friendly stays.

Who it suits
Families who want the village on foot, history in the walls and a garden to come home to — and groups of up to seven who’d rather have character than a corridor of identical rooms.
