The Arminel
The Arminel has been part of village life for a century — the 1979 holiday guide already lists it as established in the 1920s. Today it operates under the Kat Leisure group at 18 Main Road, where the garden self-catering cottages are the bookable stay.
Good to know: as at August 2026 the Arminel lists as self-catering cottages only — hotel rooms and dining there aren’t something we can currently confirm, so check directly with the property.

Kings Lodge
In the heart of the village, walking distance from shops, galleries and several trailheads. A piece of trivia the brochures skip: Rev. Lister’s Echoes from the Past records that the property began life under the very English name “Ambleside” before being renamed King’s Lodge — Hogsback was naming itself after beloved elsewheres long before the Tolkien craze.

The Historic Hogsback Inn
The Inn wears “historic” in its name and earns it — it is one of the village’s original hostelries, with the low-slung, log-fire character to match. Established in the 1880s, the Hogsback Inn traces its history through the original village hotel and its later Hydro era. Recent listings describe a spread of standard rooms, suites, backpacker rooms and self-catering units, so it covers a wider budget range than the other three.

The Edge Mountain Retreat
Technically a retreat of guest rooms and cliff-edge cottages rather than a conventional hotel — but it belongs on this page because it offers the full hosted experience: restaurant on site, the famous 29 m labyrinth on the lawn, and rooms perched along the escarpment edge with the Tyume Valley falling away below. Travel writers routinely name it first when recommending Hogsback, and the cliff cottages are the standing answer to “most romantic stay in the village”.
